The Habit Calculator

Pick stocks or a portfolio, how much you put in and how often. We show you what would have happened with real prices from the last 5 years, versus the bank and the S&P 500.

💡 Example with real prices: $300 a month stepping up $75 every 6 months in The 6 from the video (MU, NVDA, VST, PLTR, LLY, RKLB) between Oct 2021 and Oct 2026. You put in $32,500 and today it would be worth $179,823.

🛡️ Before investing: your cushion

The Faro rule: between 40% and 60% of your savings stays as an emergency fund, liquid and separate. Only the rest gets invested, little by little.

Frequently asked questions

Are the numbers real?

Yes. We use each stock's real closing price on the first market day of every month over the last 5 years (split-adjusted). Dividends are not included, so dividend funds come out slightly below what they actually paid.

What is investing little by little?

Putting in the same amount every month (or every 2 months) no matter the price. When the market falls, the same money buys more shares; when it rises, it buys fewer. It is called dollar-cost averaging.

Does this guarantee what I will earn?

No. It shows what would have happened. The stocks that rose most in these 5 years can only be picked looking backward; the future can be very different. That is why it pays to spread out and start small.

How much should my emergency fund be before investing?

The Faro rule is between 40% and 60% of your total savings, in a liquid, separate account. Money you may need soon does not go into the market.

Can I test any stock?

Yes. Choose "My own stocks" and type up to 10 tickers, for example AAPL, COST, KO. If a stock has fewer years of history, reduce the years back.

⚠️ Real closing prices (monthly), split-adjusted, without dividends. Examples are chosen looking backward: the past does not guarantee the future. Educational content, not financial advice.
